Mission

Improving your relationship with Yourself and others

I believe that every person is capable of self-reflection and the ability to change their thinking and feelings about themselves and others in an effort at creating a more harmonious relationship with themselves and others. It is my goal to assist clients in this change process.

“I have met the enemy and it is me!”

Attributed to the cartoon POGO. In my experience we are usually our worst critics and this makes changes hard to make and maintain. We tend to repeat patterns we have learned and practiced growing up and tend to repeat them dysfunctionally in our adult lives on an unconscious level. This results in establishing relationships with others that support unhealthy thoughts about ourselves and others. [Identified by Freud as the ‘repetition compulsion’. ]

Intake Assesment

Creating a plan that works for you

An intake assessment is the first step in the social work process, designed to gather essential information about you and your needs. During this initial meeting, we will discuss your background, current situation, and any challenges you’re facing. This assessment helps me identify your strengths, goals, and areas of concern so that I may develop a tailored support plan. This is a collaborative process that fosters a safe and supportive environment, ensuring that your voice is heard and your needs are prioritized.

Land Acknowledgment

I acknowledge that the state of Illinois is located on the traditional lands of the Peoria, Kaskaskia, Miami, Michigamea, Cahokia, Shawnee, Winnebago, Sauk, Fox, Ojibwe, Potawatomi, Kickapoo, Delaware, Menominee, and other peoples, who have stewarded this land for generations. I recognize their enduring relationship with the land, as well as the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization on Indigenous communities.

As I engage with this land and its resources, I commit to honoring and respecting the diverse cultures and histories of its Indigenous peoples. I strive to promote awareness, understanding, and reconciliation in my interactions and endeavors.
